Links In Pink October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

ABRIDGED Letter from the National President, October 1, 2019 For the month of October, your national and area Health and Human Services Facet Teams will be working to increase awareness and disseminate information on prevention regarding breast cancer in African-American women. And, we need your help. Here’s what we want you to do <ul> <li>On Thursdays, We Wear Pink. Put on your pink and post your photos of you in pink on social media using #LinksInPink.</li> <li>Beginning this Friday and every Friday this month, we will host our Links in Pink Facebook Live Transforming Communities Forum.</li> <li>Commit to the “Buddy Check” program at your October meeting, teaming up with a chapter member and making sure she has scheduled her annual mammogram. This could save her life.</li> <li>Visit your local American Cancer Society office to pick up breast cancer literature for distribution within your chapters and communities. Take part in one of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks across the country.</li> <li>Take part in the Health Equity Ambassador Links (HEAL) program which educates our communities on cancer prevention and early detection and connects them to screening resources.</li> <li>Advocate for legislation at the federal and state levels to ensure quality access to care for all.</li> <li>Encourage your Link sisters to get active to reduce their cancer risk and encourage them to get mammograms.</li> </ul> Be on the lookout for health facts and nutrition tips on our national social media pages throughout the month.
